Templates

Templates are reusable run definitions. They can contain process or recipe steps, requirements, measurements, variables, files, roles, and an experimental part layout.

Template lifecycle

  1. Create a template and select its project, team, sample type, optional tray type, and number of parts.

  2. Build the step sequence. Steps can be inserted, duplicated, reordered, edited, or removed while the template is under construction.

  3. Add variables, requirements, measurements, files, and access roles where needed.

  4. Release the template when it is ready for use. Later edits can create a changed state or a new version.

  5. Deprecate obsolete templates so they remain traceable without being offered for new work.

Use Create run from template to copy the released procedure into a run. A run keeps its own execution record; later template changes do not rewrite historical run results. If a step reports that its recipe version is outdated, review the differences before using Update to latest recipe version.
