Equipment classification

SoloDB can classify equipment by physical room or by operational facility and area. Room classification can include a zone group, zone, location, and sub-location. Facility/area classification is useful for support ownership and status reporting even when the physical room is also known.

Categories and types are a separate, many-to-many classification used for filtering and property definitions. An equipment group is another optional organisational grouping. Choose the mechanism that answers the question:

• Room/zone/location: where is it?

• Facility/area: which operational function supports it?

• Category/type: what kind of equipment is it?

• Group: which local collection does it belong to?

Authorised users can select several items from the equipment list and use the mass-update action to add or replace types consistently.
