Equipment categories and types

Categories provide a broad grouping; each category contains types. An equipment record may have several types, so one tool can be found through different classifications.

Types are also the main source of configurable equipment properties. When a type is assigned, its selected property definitions become available on the equipment. Properties can additionally come from the room, zone group, or module, and the General tab shows the collected result.

Administrators manage categories and types under Admin → Equipment. Before removing a type from equipment, check whether its property values are still needed in filters, exports, or historical interpretation.
